25 kms from Karjat, Kothaligad makes for a great trek. The first leg of the trek is from Ambivali village to Peth village. We stopped at Bhairavnath Bhojanalay.
The start of Shilonda trail is quite some distance within the park. It is located on the road that goes towards Kanheri caves. There is a board which indicates the start of the trail.
Tel Baila is an old watch tower which makes for a good 1-day trekking option. It consists of 2 sheer walls of rock separated by a column in the center. Climbing the walls would require a technical climb, but the climb to the column in the center also makes for a great experience.

Korigad is a fort located about 20 km away from Lonavla. Took the Express way and got off at the Lonavala exit. We made a short stop at Lion s Point
Through a stroke of luck I came across the BNHS website and saw the programme listing for March/April. Beautiful butterflies, colored bugs, flying seeds, birds and lots of tree cover made this a worthwhile trek
To get to Tikona fort you can take the Mumbai-Pune expressway and take the Kusgaon exit. From there you can ask around to reach the fort.
